Random Facts Meme

My sister tagged me to do this random facts meme. This is my pitiful attempt at it - I'm tired and hungry, so my answers my not be all that interesting. The rules are down the bottom.

  1. When I was young, I took my sisters charm bracelet to school, without her knowledge. It broke and I had found myself in a rather difficult situation. Luckily, I have a very kind and forgiving sister!
  2. I suffer from food rage. When I get really hungry, I become rather irrational and highly irritable.
  3. I love my job.
  4. I hate it when people say "unorganised" instead of "disorganised".
  5. I played netball throughout my childhood and adolescence. I pretty much played GD. I have grown to love this position and I get really competitive. I love the feeling of intercepting a ball and not crashing down on my oponent in the process. I have started playing netball again with Dave. It's a mixed twilight competition. We have a team with some of our friends, which is really fun. We played last night and today I'm moving very slowly and rediscovering the muscles in my body that I forgot I had.
  6. I never liked reading when I was young. My parents used to constantly nag me to read, but I was never interested (don't know why). I preferred to watch TV (and I watched a lot of TV, although I always went to bed at 8.30, even when I was in year 12). Now I absolutely LOVE reading and can't wait to pick up a book and start reading. I particularly love reading in bed, especially when I'm tired. I like reading until I get that heavy feeling and then I curl up and have a little cat nap.
Well, that's all that I can come up with.

I tag Chris and Steve

Trip to Perth

We had a great time in Perth over the school holidays. We went over to Pinjarra (1 hour south of Perth) for Dave's sister's wedding. We arrived a few days before the wedding which meant we could spend time helping Helen with all her wedding arrangements. We really enjoyed spending time with Dave's family.

The wedding went really well. It was a lovely, country-style wedding. Helen looked gorgeous and the day ran really smoothly. I was the "unofficial-official" wedding photographer. I had a great time taking photos. The photos turned out really well (I will put some up on my blog after Helen & Chris receive them) and I was rather happy with how they turned out.

After the wedding, Dave and I drove up to see the Pinnacles at sunset. It was a 4 hour drive to get there and we spent around 1 1/2 hrs walking around and taking photos. The Pinnacles were quite an interesting sight - really fascinating. On our 4 hour drive home to Pinjarra, we stopped at the Roadhouse to get dinner - dim sims and hot chips (I cringe now, thinking of that!)

On Sunday we drove down to the Margaret River. Dave and I really enjoyed our time there. It has a beautiful coastline, interesting forests, a large variety of wineries and lots of different types of culinary delights. We only the spent the one night there, but we really enjoyed our time. Geoff, Sarah and Alexander came down on Monday afternoon. We met up with them and went around to some wineries together.

We spent Monday night in Perth and on Tuesday, we walked around the city. We got to see a small bit of King's Park, which we thought was a really pretty park - quite large, too. We had lunch on the Swan River at the Old Swan Brewery before heading off to the airport.

We were supposed to leave for Sydney at 3.15pm, but at 3.00pm it was announced that our flight will be delayed, "due to operational systems", to 11.15pm!!! We later found out that because of the plane accident that had occurred earlier they had to send our plane to pick up the stranded passengers. Also, we couldn't leave any earlier because of the Sydney Airport curfew. We were given a refreshment voucher of $10 before being taken off to the Casino for a free dinner. There's nothing like food to turn people's moods. We were, nonetheless, exhausted by the time our plane arrived at around 7.00am in Sydney. Luckily, my parents were able to pick us up and take us home to our lovely bed.

Back to School

After a great 2-week break, I am now back at school. Had a staff-only day today (no kids), which wasn't too bad. My head is throbbing as I have been doing lots of planning for the new Year 12 course, which is starting this term. Fortunately, I have a prac student for the next 4 weeks, so that may take the pressure off somewhat (well, I'm hoping anyway).

I may be a little bit quiet over the next few weeks as my life will be fixated on school, until things settle down. Hopefully it won't be too busy!

Franz Joseph Glacier

I never got around to putting my photos of our trip to Franz Joseph Glacier when we went to NZ. So, here they are. We went on a heli-hike and did a 2 hour hike around the glacier. It was an incredible experience, which we really enjoyed.
